| The Cadets of West High School Marching Band is by far the most active band at West. Rehearsals for the fall marching season start in April of that year. After that there is summer band camp, which is eight hours a day, three days a week for two weeks. This is where most of the music and marching are learned. After that the Cadets have Wednesday night rehearsals and rehearsals during class time. In addition to home football games, the Cadets participate in four to five competitions all over the state during the fall, with the final one being the WSMA State Marching Band Championship at UW-Whitewater. Despite all of the hard work and practice that one needs to do in marching band, it is a fun way to meet people and have many different performance opportunities.
