Daniel Duffy
Mr. Duffy received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education form The Ohio State University in 1985, and a Master's Degree in conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 1992. Before coming to Waukesha in 2001 he was a Graduate Conducting Associate at the University of Cincinnati, he was Director of Bands at high schools in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Sandusky, Ohio, and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Mr. Duffy also spent the 2000-2001 academic year as Associate Director of Bands at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where he conducted the Concert Band, was Assistant Director of the 300 member Pride of Wildcat Land Marching Band, and taught survey courses in American Music.

Mr. Duffy's ensembles have received critical acclaim and consistent superior ratings at regional and national music festivals. Bands under his direction have performed three times at the WMEA State Music Conference, the WNBA State Convention, and 4 NFL Half-time shows, and he has coordinated performance tours in New Orleans, Dallas, St. Louis, and Orlando. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Band Association, and was the Wisconsin All-State Band coordinator from 1995-99. His teaching assignments at West High School include conducting the Wind Ensemble, Jazz I, Thursday Jazz, Symphonic Winds and Percussion, and the Wisconsin State Championship Cadets of Waukesha West. Mr. Duffy and his wife Christine and their three children are proud residents of the Waukesha West educational community.


Matt Mueller
Mr. Mueller received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 1998. He taught music appreciation and instrumental music in the Spring Grove, Minnesota Independent School District for one year. Mr. Mueller also taught at Marathon High School in Marathon, Wisconsin. In his two years there, the size of the band program doubled , and in the summer of 2001 the Marching Red Raiders represented the State of Wisconsin at the Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Mueller is now in his third year at Waukesha West High School where he directs the Blue Concert Band, Symphonic Winds and Percussion, Tuesday Jazz, and is a member of the marching band staff. He coordinates and directs the Cadets of Waukesha West Front Line Percussion Section, and he is also coordinates all the band solo and ensemble activities at West. It is through his expertise and dedication that the Waukesha West band program is able to send 2 brass choirs, 2 woodwind choirs, 2 jazz bands, trumpet choir, trombone choir, sax choir, and percussion ensemble to solo and ensemble festivals in 2003 - all in class A.


Michael E. Poytinger
Mr. Poytinger received both Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has been a
member of the music faculty in the School District of Waukesha since 1971. His teaching experience includes Director of Bands - South High School -Central Campus 1971-74, Director of Bands - North High School 1974-84, and K-12 Music Department Chairman 1984 - present. In addition he has been a member of the band staff at West High School since 1993.

During the time he has served as Department Chairman the music department has grown from 26 full and part-time faculty to 45 full-time staff members who provide music instruction to approximately 9500 district students. At Waukesha West High School, Mr. Poytinger is a member of the marching band staff, and he is the conductor of the Silver Concert Band. Michael Poytinger has enjoyed a successful and rewarding career as a music teacher and department chair in the School District of Waukesha. He is planning to retire from the school district at the end of the 2003-2004 school year, but the band staff at West will be asking for his assistance and expertise for many years to come.
