Wind Ensemble Selected to Perform at Wisconsin State Band Convention

The West Wind Ensemble has been selected to perform at the National Band Association 25th Wisconsin State Band Convention on Friday January 23. The Wind Ensemble will perform a full-length concert starting at 9:00 PM in the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Mead in Wisconsin Rapids.

The selection process is by audition through a committee of NBA-Wisconsin Executive Board Members. It is an honor to be selected to perform at this convention, and we are especially excited to receive the Friday 9:00 PM performance slot. This performance slot is always very well attended by directors from around the state, as well as the 98 members of the Wisconsin All-State Band. (The Wisconsin All-State Band will perform on Saturday evening January 24.)

The Wind Ensemble's performance on January 23 will mark the fourth time that the West Wind Ensemble has appeared at the NBA Wisconsin State Convention. Previous appearances took place in 2007, 2004, and 1999. The Wind Ensemble will appear under the direction of Mr. Duffy, and guest conductors will include Mr. Mueller and Mr. Kirby. The 2009 performance program will include:

Albanian Dance - Shelley Hanson
Procession of the Nobles - Rimsky Korsakov, arr. Leidzen
In the Land of the White Mountain - Rick Kirby
Funiculi - Funicula Rhapsody - Luigi Denza, arr. Goto
Chorale and Shaker Dance - John Zdechlik

This performance is free and open to the public, and we hope to see as many family members in attendance as possible. Be sure to arrive early - available seating will be limited!
